We let Aaron “Paco” Scott, our Import Service manager; loose on a brand-new Kawasaki ZX-14. This bike stock boasted a stock 159 horsepower at the rear-wheel (as measured on our dyno), which is definitely no joke. Paco’s modifications, which required no engine modification for maximum reliability, resulted in a return of 175 horsepower at the rear-wheel. He didn’t stop there. Both wheels were swapped for new Carrozzeria wheels weighing in at less than 5 lbs. each, a savings of about 20 lbs. over stock. The exhaust was changed, shedding an additional 25 lbs. The bike was lowered 3”, and lengthened with a Macintosh Alumi-Pro performance swingarm, offering adjustability from 2”-8”. The power hits the ground with a 190 series rear tire. Why 190, versus some of the wider, showier wheels? Paco wanted a bike that dropped it hard and fast in the straights, but still held true to its sport bike roots in the corners.
